SEVERANCE: EFCC BEAMS SEARCHLIGHT ON NASS


Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has concluded plans to beam its searchlight on National Assembly over the delay in the payment of severance allowances of lawmakers and their legislative aides.
It was reliably gathered that the commission has received series of petitions against the management of the National Assembly over their refusal to pay the allowances despite the fact that the fund had been released by the finance ministry.
Gong was reliably gathered that those involve are trying to maximise the fund with the intention of embezzling chunk of the money released hence the selective payment.
Sources close to the commission revealed that the commission was over the actions of some persons in the National Assembly who are bent on stealing the fund.
National Assembly sources revealed that the more the delay the better for them because the fund will yield enough interest that will go round the cliques in charge of the exercise.
It was also revealed that issue of corruption and mid management of funds is becoming too frequent which a drastic action has to be taken.
