The Moselm community of ogbomosho rose in stout defence of the chief imam of the town, Sheik Talieat Oluwasina Yinus Ayilara, saying at no time did he impute influencing the delay of Oyo state government over the official pronouncement of the new soun of 0gbomosho.
Rather, according to the moslem community, the chief imam advised the state government, to follow the same procedure adopted in the pronouncement of Olu ibadan, and ensure it prospers peace and unity in ogbomosho land.
The refutal is sequel to an online publication by ogbomosho based online publication, which alleged that the imam Sheik Ayilara advised the delay of the pronouncement by state government on the new soun of ogbomosho.
According to a close aide to the chief imam of ogbomosho, ” the truth is that imam pleaded that government should consult widely, ensure every segment in ogbomosho is carried along in the pronouncement of a new soun, and as a respected religious leader, who wants peace and unity in ogbomosho land, there is no way shiekh Ayilara, would be seen to be against the wish of the community concerning the new soun of ogbomosho.
Shiek Ayilara, as the mouth piece of Allah, cannot join the bands of those who do not wish ogbomosho land to thrive in peace but will at all time, admonish all stakeholders in ogbomosho land to be circumspect when decisions that will affect the peace and well-being of the people are taken” the aide who do not want his name mentioned, stated further.
It will recalled that a new soun of ogbomosho was selected by councils of chiefs and King makers in March, this year, and four months after, the government of Oyo state, has kept a sealed lips on the official pronouncement as expected by law, a situation, said to have foisted uneasiness and rumours of clandestine opposition by powerful political and religious leaders in ogbomosho land.
Chief of staff to Governor Seyi Makinde, chief segun Ogunniyi hosted an Islamic program before sallah festivities and had invited the chief imam of ogbomosho, shiekh Ayilara as special guest of honour.
