OIL THEFT, BUNKERING: NSCDC COMMANDANT GENERAL GIVES OFFICERS A MARCHING ORDER

The Commandant General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Ahmed Abubakar Audi has given his officers a marching order over rate of bunkering and oil theft in the country.

Speaking at the opening session of a strategic meeting of the Commandant General with State Commandants and Heads of Anti Vandal Unit of the Corps Across the country at its Headquarters in Abuja, the Commandant General explained that this step became necessary in order to fish out those officers conniving with bad people in the society to steal from the nation’s wealth.

He stated that since the Corps is saddled with the responsibility of protecting pipelines across the country, it behoves on the officers to carry out the functions effectively.

According to him, “It is a strategic meeting at my instance. We all know the country is passing through conflict. This country battling with serious crisis. We are aware that as far as the nation is concern oil is the main stream of the nation’s economy”

:We are all aware of massive oil theft and illegal bunkering in our nation, it is in this direction I summoned all the high ranking officers of the Corps to this meeting for us to sit up and to come up with ways of tackling this menace creating problems for us’ , he stated

The Commandant General however, read a riot act on those officers conniving with  some individual to carry out this dastardly act with a view to checking those excess and help the nation to generate more revenue.

The meeting, he said is to call your attention to it and to make it categorically clear that anybody caught will not be spared. We have rules that would be apply for sanction for anybody found guilty. The corps is going to use it’s hammer on anybody found wanting. The corps is to severally punish anybody found wanting. If you joined the corps with the sole aim of conniving with those bunkerers, be sure that Corps would deal with you.

He promised, “Anybody sabotaging government efforts in this direction would be dealt with. Government is doing everything possible to protect our pipelines. We have been having reports of compromise from some officers, it is better for those officers to quit before we get them because any officer found guilty would be dealt with in accordance with the provision of the law”.
