Shri Muraleedharan, Indian Minister of state for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs has advised Indians in Nigeria on peaceful co-existeance and love for one another.
Muraleedharan, who met with President Muhammadu Buhari and members of the Overseas Friends of Bhartiya Janta Party (OFBJP), Nigeria Chapter gave the advice during the visit on Thursday.
Mr Sanjay Srivastava, National President of OFBJP disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
Muraleedharan said love and peaceful co-existence, just as preached by Narendra Modi, Indian Prime Minister, must be upheld among Indians in Nigeria.
He said this would engender progress and development in Nigeria.
He also advised on the need to improve on trade and cultural promotions, adding that cultural exchange programmes between Nigeria and Indians must be upscaled to strengthen the countries’ bilateral relations.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Overseas Friends of Bhartiya Janta Party is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) which was established in January 2014.
The NGO is made up of 10,000 members with the aim of strengthening friendship and sociocultural ties between Indians and Nigerians,.
It also aims to strengthen social ties between the Indian diasporians.
The organisation was also created to project correct image of India and its people in Nigeria.
It is also meant to help distressed Indians in Nigeria by providing them the right aid and connection when needed.
