Strong indications emerged that the out going Clerk to the National Assembly, Arch Amos Ojo is working very hard to remain in office till February next year in order to enable spend the last capital vote of the National Assembly management budget of the 2022 budget.
It was also revealed that clerk is already planning to ensure that seventy percent of the budget go to his pocket as a retirement benefit and also to have his input in the 2023 budget which is already before the National Assembly.
Ordinarily, the clerk ought to leave office by 14th of this month but sources close to him revealed that the clerk is moving round the commissioners in the commission and the leadership of both the House of Representatives and the Senate to allow him embark on working leave for three months.
It was revealed that despite the N80 million monthly impress and other office peculinares, yet he was not satisfied putting his eyes on staff allowances and votes for training of staff.
Under him, he was said to have mopped up all the travel allowance and other allowance due to the staff. It took the outgoing clerk three years before paying gratuities of the 59 directors compulsorily retired as a result of the agitation for extension of retirement age from 60 years to 65 years.
Sources revealed that the outgoing Clerk is begging the commissioners especially the South West commissioners to allowing him but the Northern commissioners insisted that he must go this month, since that is the tradition.
The Northern commissioners believed that while in office, he dealt with one of their son which led to his forceful retirement, saying that this is the opportunity for them to deal with him.
It was also gathered that his relation with the Speaker of the House is no longer cordial as it was revealed that the speaker was not too pleased with the way and manner he handled issue of money.
It would be recalled that the speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila did everything to ensure that the out going Clerk then emerged the clerk but afterward he became something else.
