Governor Makinde Appoints New Head Of Service

The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has appointed Mrs Olubunmi Oni as the state’s new Head of Service.

Mrs Oni will be taking over from Mrs Ololade Agboola who just retired from the Oyo State Civil Service Commission.

The Oyo State Commissioner for Special Duties, Mrs Fausat Sanni, made the announcement while briefing newsmen shortly after the fourth state Executive Council meeting in the year.

Until her new appointment, Mrs Oni was the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet, at the Office of the Governor of the state.

She was also a Journalist in the state’s Ministry of Information before crossing over to the Carrier ladder.

During the briefing, the state Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun, also announced that the governor had constituted the Inauguration/Transition Committee to ensure a seamless transition on the 29th of May.

The 15-man committee is headed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Segun Ogunwuyi, with the Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties, Ms Ololade Ajibola, as the secretary.

Also speaking at the briefing, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Oyelowo Oyewo, disclosed that the Executive Council had granted approval for the presentation of four bills and one amendment bill to the state House of Assembly.

He explained that the amendment bill would seek to grant autonomy to the Governor, on section 28, subsection 1 of the Oyo State Chiefs Law, to present beaded crowns and coronets without recourse to the Traditional Council, while the other bills are the Oyo State Harmonised Environment Bill, Real Property Protection Bill, Oyo State Safe School Bill and Oyo State Rural Access Road Agency Bill to complement the Rural Access and Mobile Project. 

Speaking further on the decision of the Executive Council, the Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Prof. Daud Sangodoyin, noted that the council re-awarded the contract for the remodelling of the Agbowo Shopping Complex, in Ibadan, for a duration of 18 months with an estimate of N10.8 billion through a project-specific bond approach.

Also, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Prof. Babatunde Musibaudeen, announced that the State Government had completed the reconstruction of the new Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja and it would be commissioned by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on 23rd May, 2023.
