Northern elites within the All Progressives Congress, (APC) are mobilising forces against the appointment of Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila as the Chief of Staff (COS) to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the president-elect.
The group, according to impeccable sources presumed that Gbajabiamila as the Chief of Staff to Asiwaju would be worse than late Abba Kyari under Mohammadu Buhari.
The group’s opposition to the choice of the embattled Speaker sources further revealed was sequel to his use of the president-elect’s name to mislead the National Working Committee (NWC) into endorsing Tajudeen Abbas as the choice of the party for the Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives.
Gbajabiamila was also alleged to have assembled Honourable Member-elect and presented Honourable Abbas to them as Asiwaju’s anointed candidate before going ahead to deceive the APC leaders into announcing Abbas as the party’s choice.
The APC northern elite which comprises ex and serving Governors and legislators as well as other influential party stalwarts is said to have prepared elaborate view points with which to confront and convince Asiwaju on why Gbajabiamila is a wrong choice.
A member of the group who spoke on condition of anonymity stressed that, ” what we are doing is for the interest of our country and for President-elect himself so that no manipulative cabal will hijack his government.
“We know Asiwaju is poised to run an inclusive and progressive government so we don’t want anybody who will constitute a clog in the wheel of the progress of the president-elect’s government”.
Other opinions according to investigations have also adduced that the Speaker has boasted that the president-elect would only support and work with the National Assembly leaderships sanctioned by him, (Gbajabiamila).
