To enhance security along railway corridors within and outside the Federal Capital Territory, the Ministry of Transportation has donated motorcycles to the Nigeria Hunter and Forest Security Service, NHFSS.
Presenting the motorcycles on behalf of the Ministry to the Commander General of NHFSS, Ambassador Joshua Osatimehin at Service Headquarters in Abuja, the Director, Abuja -Kaduna Train Services, Mr Victor Adamu xpressed the Ministry’s readiness to collaborate with the Service on security matter.
Mr Adamu who said railway corridors are mostly situated along the forest commended the NHFSS efforts in combating crimes and criminality in the nation’s forests over the years.
He stated that the Ministry would continue support NHFSS in its efforts at combating banditry, kidnapping boko haram and other crimes around the country’s forest.
The Director therefore advised the Service to make judicious use of the motorcycles towards safeguarding the lives and property of passengers and Nigerians along railway corridors.
Receiving the motorcycles, the Commander General of the Nigeria Hunter and Forest Security Service, NHFSS, Ambassador Joshua Osatimehin thanked the Ministry of Transportation for identifying with the Service and promised NHFSS determination in supporting the Ministry in ensuring maximum patrol and security along railway corridors.
Ambassador Osatimehin promised the Service readiness to make proper use of the motorcycles towards actualizing the agenda of the Ministry in securing lives and property of railway passengers and Nigerians along the corridors.
“On behalf of the officers and men of the Nigeria Hunter and Forest Security Service, NHFSS, I want to thank the Ministry of Transportation for this donation and I want to pledge our readiness and determination in securing railway corridors which is the main target of this donation and st the same time, I want to say that the NHFSS is ever ready in the fight against banditry, kidnapping boko haram and other crimes and criminality around the forestic region of the country” He explained.
While soliciting the support of other Government’s Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs in NHFSS programmes and activities, Ambassador Joshua Osatimehin said the Service would not relent in complimenting the efforts of other formal security agencies in protecting lives and property in the country.
“We need the collaboration and support of other MDAs as well in the activities and programmes of NHFSS nationwide and this i believe will go a long way in actualizing President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda for Nigerians in the area of security” the CG NHFSS added
