The official recognition of the monarch by the state authorities has become a subject of controversies to the surprise of many citizens.

The age of the Olubadan designate sparked criticisms by one of the Olubadan in Councils and the state governor.

Few voices challenged the monarch to make public appearances to determine whether he was physically fit and stable.

Some concerned groups wondered why the state Governor resorted to the health status of Oba Olakulehin.

After a long wait, the governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde approved the coronation and presentation of staff and instruments of office to the new Olubadan of Ibadanland Oba Owolabi Olakunlehin.

The ceremony is scheduled to be held on Friday, July 12, 2024.

This is contained in a statement by the commissioner for information, Prince Dotun Oyelade.

Oba Olakulehin succeeds the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadan, late Oba Mahood Lekan Balogun as the 43rd Olubadan.

The Commissioner said that “our people must learn to be patient and believe an Administration that has not let them down in five years.

Oyelade said that insinuations and mischievous innuendos have not derailed Gov Seyi Makinde from the path of justice and fairness.

He advised the people of Oyo State and Ibadan in particular to await the spectacle of the coronation and presentation of the staff of office on July 12.
