A Non – Governmental Organization, Youth Forum for Development in Africa, YFDA, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to direct officials responsible for the release of United Alliance African Grants, UAAG subscribed to by some Nigerians and NGOs to improve their businesses and economic wellbeing to urgently do so, as they could no longer bear the current worsening economic hardship in the country.
The National President of YFDA, Dr. Amb. Paschal Anyanwu made the appeal while speaking with newsmen in Abuja.
Dr Anyanwu who is also the President of Coalition of NGOs and CEOs in Nigeria commended President Tinubu for his passion for the masses and called for his intervention in the speedy release of the UAAG grant under his watch.
According to him, over 50 million Nigerians who subscribed for the grant over the years, are eagerly waiting for the disbursement, even as he regretted that some of them have died, while many are currently sick, frustrated, depressed, homeless, while some have had their children chased from school in the course of waiting for the grant.
Amb Dr. Paschal, who said he believe in the capacity of President Tinubu to listen to the cry of the dying masses explained that the urgent release of the grant would no doubt increase the confidence of the people especially in the renewed hope agenda of the current administration.
He also used the opportunity to call for patience and understanding on the part of the masses, believing that President Tinubu, as a listening father and mentor, will hear the wailings and weepings of the masses and instruct the speedy disbursement of the grant to every Nigerian who subscribed to UAAG grant.
The National President equally called on Nigerians to pray for the success of the current administration just as he noted that President Tinubu will not disappoint the masses at a critical time as this.
He stressed the need for the masses to remain positive, steadfast and prayerful towards the realization of the pending grant disbursement.
