
The Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy has officially endorsed Motherland 2025, a groundbreaking initiative by Discover Motherland Africa aimed at deepening Nigeria’s ties with the global Black and African diaspora.
At the endorsement event in Abuja, The Honourable Minister Hannatu Musa Musawa, Esq. reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to leveraging tourism, arts, and culture as catalysts for economic growth, in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. She emphasized that Motherland 2025 is not just a tourism event but a bridge reconnecting the diaspora to their roots, fostering investment, cultural exchange, and long-term engagement.
The CEO’s Vision: A Homecoming Beyond Tourism
Speaking at the event, Chidimma Nwankwo, Managing Director of Discover Motherland Africa, described Motherland 2025 as more than just an event—it is a movement for reconnection, investment, and cultural pride.
“Motherland is more than an event. It’s a homecoming. It’s a journey. It’s a commitment.”
She emphasized that Motherland 2025 will offer the diaspora an unparalleled experience of Nigeria—not as tourists, but as active participants in a shared future.

She highlighted the initiative’s key components, which will span seven immersive days of cultural, business, and entertainment activities:
State Pavilions: Showcasing Nigeria’s diverse traditions, tourism assets, and local investments.
Technology and Innovation Hubs: Spotlighting Nigeria’s leadership in fintech, AI, and agriculture.
Entertainment and Healthcare Pavilions: Exploring the evolution of Nollywood, Afrobeats, and Nigeria’s growing wellness sector.
The Motherland Awards: Recognizing diaspora trailblazers in business, entertainment, philanthropy, and governance.

The Motherland Concert: A grand musical celebration featuring Africa’s biggest artists, symbolizing unity, joy, and pride.

Chidimma Nwankwo also addressed the common challenges faced by diaspora visitors, including issues with SIM cards, currency exchange, and transportation.
“With the support of key ministries and strategic partnerships, Motherland 2025 is working to remove these barriers, ensuring that from the moment you arrive, your experience is smooth, welcoming, and truly feels like home.”
Beyond cultural experiences, Motherland 2025 is focused on legacy-building, offering pathways for deeper engagement:
Citizenship by Investment (CIP) Program: Providing diaspora members a formal pathway to reclaim their Nigerian roots through investment.
