The Dynamic Women International Association (DWIA) has lamented that Nigeria has lost a father figure in Chief Edwin Clark, who died at the age of 97 on monday.
A statement from the President of the Association, Chief Mrs Bola Doherty MFR, recalled that the late elder stateman in his lifetime made recognizable interventions in the social economic and political development of the country.
A record that can only be traced to good men of history in the whole world.
“His voice,actions, and contributions to national debates were well respected, having served as a leader in many capacities,” the statement added.
“As a federal commissioner for information during the regime of Yakubu Gowon,he exhibited intelligence and dexterity in office, and as a leader of the Ijaw nation,he was a beauty to behold”,said the statement.
The DWIA stated that Chief Clark, who was the Patron of the Association, provided leadership throughout his lifetime and developed outstanding love for Nigerian women and youth in a way that would make them committed and functioning in the society.
It is on record that the late elder stateman sponsored various programmes, including advocacy and political awareness gathering for the DWIA and other ethnic groups.
The women Association said Chief Clark would be sorely missed for his philanthropy and human kindness.
Chief Clark became a household name in Nigeria by touching lives of the vulnerable in addition to offering valuable advice to those in positions of authorities.
The late elder stateman could be described as a great nationalist, urbane, discipline, forthright, accommodating, professional, family man, honest, and duty personified.
The DWIA urged the federal and Delta state governments to immortalise him by naming monumental and institutional edifice after him.
While commiserating with Nigerians,Delta state government, and his immediate family in particular for the passage of Chief Edwin Clark,the DWIA called on Nigerian youth and serving political office holders to emulate his courage,spartan discipline,love for all and life well spent.
