In a remarkable display of commitment to education and support for the administration of His Excellency Asiwaju Sen. Nurudeen Ademola Jackson Adeleke, Hon. Wole Oke has furthered his scholarship initiative in technical education, fulfilling his promise to support indigent children who aspire to attend school. Recently, he enrolled over 300 additional students, bringing the total number of beneficiaries under his scholarship programme to over 1,000 across the state.

Following a comprehensive week-long evaluation by the Quality Assurance Team from Hon. Oluwole Oke’s Constituency Office at nine technical colleges in the state, nearly Ten Million Naira was allocated to cover enrolment form fees and school fees for Year 1 students at colleges in Osogbo, Ara, Otan, Gbongan, Ile-Ife, Inisa, Osu, Iwo, and Ijebu-Jesa. These also included payments for students in both Year 1 and Year 2 at Ijeda-Ijebu-Jesa Technical College.

This scholarship programme extends beyond financial support; it is designed as a mentoring model aimed at fostering self-reliance, job creation capabilities, skill-building, and a spirit of community service. The initiative has been widely acclaimed, with students expressing profound gratitude for the opportunity to pursue their educational goals.

The principals of the nine technical colleges testified that Hon. Wole Oke’s scholarship model has significantly boosted enrolment in technical education, positioning Osun State as a leader in this field among other states in the federation. Students and teachers alike have praised the initiative, noting its transformative impact on their lives and students across the state.

Similarly, Izu Emmanuel, the class captain of Year I in Ile-Ife GTC, spoke on behalf of his mates, thanking Hon. Wole Oke profusedly.

A female student, Obasi Ada of the Textile Department of Gbongan GTC, originally from Cross River State, was overwhelmed with emotion, acknowledging that without the scholarship, her parents could not afford her education. She emphasised that Hon. Oke’s intervention has given her a future she never thought possible.

In Osogbo GTC, a young girl was moved to tears, recounting how the scholarship has changed her life from hawking sachet water to attending school. She expressed deep gratitude, noting that the scholarship has brought relief to her family and given her a chance at a better future.

These testimonials reflect the profound impact of Hon. Wole Oke’s scholarship programme, which does not only support education but also empowers young people to build brighter futures for themselves and their communities.

She expressed herself in tears, “In my life, how could I have ever imagined seeing myself among students in a school like this? I have never thought of the possibility.” I have been engaging in hawking sachet water to school, but this scholarship changed my story and gave my parents and family so much rest. Only God can reward our Daddy, Hon. Wole Oke, she prayed.

Hon. Wole Oke, when asked on the phone why extending this to the whole state, said, “We must begin industrialisation of our country through the kind of education that we give our children; those other industrialised countries do not have the volume of manpower and intelligence that Nigeria is endowed with. We must start from our state.

We are determined to lead a silent revolution in the country, starting with our state, Osun, by promoting technical education and skill acquisition, an often-overlooked area in the national academic curriculum. Our efforts are focused on empowering young people with practical skills, making them more employable and self-sufficient, Oke posited.

Our target is 2000; this initiative has seen us sponsor 1000 students across various technical colleges in Osun State, not capturing those who have graduated from Ijeda-Ijebu-Jesa centre in the last 5 years.By equipping young people with technical skills, we are empowering them to become entrepreneurs, innovators, employers of labour and leaders in their respective field of endeavours.

Omolebi-Sunday Segun Tunde, who led the team across the state, spoke elaborately on what he saw across the state. At each of the centres, he gave them the messages of hope and prosperity brought from Hon. Oluwole Oke, encouraging the students to make good use of the golden opportunities at their disposal now in a lifetime. He appealed to their sense of seriousness and diligence with their studies and training, showing the brighter, rewarding future that awaits them as artisans and people with a skill set to change their world as job creators and employers of labour. The sense of giving back to humanity is being sown into your souls. Hon. Wole Oke is inculcating in you a thought and lifelong knowledge of replicating this gesture in society in the near future.

Hon. Mercy Ayodele, the Constituency Manager from Obokun Local Government Area, spoke extensively and charged the students to make Hon. Wole Oke proud with their performance today and success in the future. The whole world is waiting for you; go and excel in the world with a paucity of people with 21st-century skill sets.

Dr Festus Karounwi gave the students an appealing picture of a brighter future awaiting those who guard what they have at hand now, jealously. He charged them to shun truancy, hooliganism, and other vices that may impede their attainment of their academic goal.
