
A 41 years old man,Ariyo Omotola, has been arraigned before an Ibadan Chief Magistrate Court for fraudulently obtaining goods worth over #1.5 million.
He was arraigned on Wednesday on a two-count charge of fraud and stealing.
The counts read: “That you,Ariyo Omotola,’male’,sometimes in October 2024 at about 2 pm at Oluyole,Ibadan in the Ibadan Magisterial District did fraudulently obtain goods worth one million, five hundred and fifty nine thousand, four hundred and fifty eight naira only (#1,559,458.00) property of one Ogunlayi Adeyemi Abosede,female, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 419 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol.2, Laws of Oyo State,Nigeria”.
Count two:”That you Ariyo Omotola ‘male’ on the same date and place in the aforementioned Magesterial District did steal Cartons of biscuit value the sum of (#1,559,458.00) sold it and converted the money to your own use without the consent of the owner and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol.2 Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria”.

When the charges were read to him in Yoruba language,he pleaded not guilty.
The Chief Magistrate 2, T.G Daodu,Mrs after taking the plea,granted him bail of #1 million with two sureties in like sum and verified means.
Inspector Oladoyin Iyabo appeared for the complainant,the Oyo State Commissioner of Police at the Sitting.
The Judge however adjourned the case until June 5,2025.
