The Afro-Heritage Broadcasting and Entertaining Awards (AHBEA), an intercontinental non-governmental organization dedicated to celebrating the global contributions of African descendants in tourism, entertainment, and broadcasting, has officially presented a proposal to the Ekiti State Government to host its significant 2025 Pre-Award event.
This initiative aims to leverage Ekiti State’s rich cultural heritage and burgeoning tourism potential.
A delegation from AHBEA, led by Ambassador Yomi Fashlanso, visited the Bureau of Tourism Development Ekiti State on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, to formally submit a letter addressed to the Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.
The delegation was warmly received by the Director General of the Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development, Ambassador Wale Ojo-Lanre Esq., who assured that the letter would be properly, appropriately, and promptly delivered to the Governor.
The AHBEA team also met with the Director General of Ekiti State Local Content, Hon. Olalekan Ijidale, and Mr. Ayo Ojo, Technical Advisor to the Governor on Youth Inclusion, fostering broader engagement for the proposed partnership.
According to Ambassador Fashlanso, the proposal outlines plans for Ekiti State to host the 2025 Pre-Award event in the third week of September 2025.

The upcoming 9th edition of the awards is scheduled to take place in October 2025 in the United States of America.
“Ekiti State has been identified as an ideal partner due to its numerous iconic organic tourist assets,” Ambassador Fashlanso noted. “We firmly believe that hosting this pre-award event here would not only create an unforgettable experience for all our past recipients from the continent of Africa but would also significantly shine a global spotlight on Ekiti State’s unique offerings and capabilities.”
The proposed partnership is expected to bolster entertainment tourism, promote international collaboration, and provide an invaluable platform for showcasing Ekiti State to a global audience.
