Tourism Trailblazer Wilson Uche Appointed FTAN Vice President for South East Region

Wilson Uche, a prominent figure in the Nigerian tourism industry, has been elected as the Vice President (South East) of the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN). In his acceptance speech, Uche expressed his gratitude and outlined a bold vision for the future of tourism in the South East, also known as Ndigbo and Alaigbo.\n\nUche emphasized that his appointment is a “call to service, a shared mission, and a bold opportunity to reimagine the future of tourism in the South East. ” He envisions the region becoming Nigeria’s leading cultural and heritage destination, with tourism acting as a powerful driver of cultural pride, economic growth, and community empowerment.\n\nHis strategic focus areas include fostering unity among state chapters, driving policy advocacy for infrastructure development, empowering MSMEs and youth through capacity-building programs, elevating FTAN’s visibility through strategic partnerships, promoting sustainable and inclusive tourism, and facilitating access to funding for tourism initiatives.

“This is more than a vision—it is a collective journey we must embark on, driven by passion, guided by purpose, and anchored in unity,\” Uche stated. He urged stakeholders to move forward with courage and clarity, believing that a vibrant and resilient tourism sector in the South East is attainable. His appointment has been met with enthusiasm from the tourism community, who are hopeful for a period of significant growth and development in the region under his leadership.
