…as he hosts European Union Day at the Eastern Nigeria International Film Festival (ENIFF) 2025

The Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) South East Zone warmly received the European Union Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, H.E. Gautier Mignot, during his official visit to Enugu for the Eastern Nigeria International Film Festival (ENIFF) 2025.

The South East region—renowned for its rich cultural heritage, deep history, and vibrant traditions—continues to stand out as a major cultural tourism destination in Nigeria. The Ambassador’s visit underscores the region’s undeniable potential in heritage-based tourism and its growing appeal to the international community.

As part of his engagements, H.E. Mignot visited several significant cultural sites, including the Centre for Memories – Ncheta Ndigbo, a leading hub dedicated to preserving Igbo identity, memory, and history.

The South East, through its tourism sector, has the capacity to greatly boost economic earnings and drive sustainable development, especially as the region seeks to diversify its economy from dependency to self-sustainability. In this regard, international funding, technical support, and strategic partnerships—particularly with the European Union—remain crucial to unlocking the region’s full tourism potential.

During his visit, H.E. Mignot also hosted European Union Day at ENIFF 2025, strengthening cultural ties and opening new channels for creative and developmental collaboration.

FTAN South East, under the leadership of its Vice President and Zonal Chairman, Mr. Wilson Uche Ugwu, reaffirmed its dedication to leading a cultural and tourism revolution in the region—one enriched by global collaboration, shared learning, and international best practices. These partnerships continue to enhance FTAN’s ability to deliver impactful programmes that elevate the visibility, economic value, and sustainability of the South East’s cultural landscape.

More updates, media highlights, and visual content from the event will be released soon.
