** Nigeria’ s Minister of Transportation, Engineer muazu jaji Sambo says Technology will be deployed to addressing security of rail and roads infrastructure across the country. He spoke to creative Nigeria Tuesday night from New York, where he is attending the United Nations General Assembly meeting as part of President Muhammadu Buhari entourage to the global conference. Sambo assured that all railway services will soon be restored but shall be backed by security architecture driven through technology.
** Lagos governor, Babajide sanwo-0lu, Director General, National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism ( NIHOTOUR) Alhaji Nura Kangiwa, and Tourism Enterprinuer, Rev( Mrs) Margaret fabiyi, will be honoured with Tourism icons Award , come Tuesday , September 27th in lagos by the apex private sector tourism body, the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria. The event is the highpoint of activities, marking the global celebration of United Nations World Tourism Day, with theme, Rethinking Tourism. According to ftan President, Nkereweum onung, governor Babajide sanwo-0lu of lagos has deployed resources and had given sufficient support to Tourism trade rebound in lagos state more than any governor in Nigeria.
** Still on World Tourism Day celebration, ftan BOT chairman. Chief Samuel Alabi, says he would lead the private sector tourism entrepreneurs and enthusiasts to Takwa Bay on Tuesday morning where open activities of the celebration, will take place. Over 500 boats will be deployed as show of force to draw attention to the importance of waterfront recreation and to showcase the various opportunities available to investors on maritime tourism.
** Engineer Sarat Braimah, Area Manager, lagos, National Inland Waterways Authority ( NIWA) says the birth of Waterfront Boat Owners and Transporters Association Of Nigeria ( WABOTAN) is a welcome development as long as the association, operates within the laws, supportive to growth of Water Transportation and brown water economy. She advised the group led by its national President, Mr Tope Fajimirokun to make its objective clear and also avoid admitting fly by night operators , persons without relevant knowledge about the sector as members inorder not to create problems for the sector. Mr Tope Fajimirokun disclosed while on a curtsey visit to the Area Manager, that WABOTAN , will bring fresh ideas to the development of water transportation economy and also not in competition with any group.
** Ponmo ( cow skin) may become a political campaign issue as different groups, lovers of the soup supplement and government agency in charge of leather economy, prime for open confrontation. Alhaji Mohammed Yakubu, Director General, Nigeria institute of leather and Science Technology, had warned that consumption of cow skin ( Ponmo) by Nigerians, is affecting the growth of the leather economy and should be put on hold and banned outrightly as there is no nutritional value attached to its presence on the soup plate.
** Flights out of lagos through domestic and international wings of murtala Mohammed Airports were disrupted by angry students, on Monday, protesting the six months strike by vasity lecturers, thus grieving travellers and road users to no end, as many people were caught unawares by the students action clearly targeted at consumers and operators of Aviation services.
