Katsina State Governor Champions Cultural Renaissance and Tourism Growth, Affirms Strong Partnership with Federal Ministry

In a significant demonstration of commitment to Nigeria’s cultural revitalization and tourism development, the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Dr. Dikko Umar Radda, has pledged unwavering support to the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy. This commitment was made during a high-level courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister, Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, in Abuja on Tuesday

Governor Radda praised the Honourable Minister’s bold vision and strategic initiatives, which are aimed at reclaiming Nigeria’s cultural legacy, advancing the creative industry, and unlocking the country’s tourism potential. He commended the Ministry’s efforts to recover and preserve priceless cultural artifacts, describing them as timely, impactful, and in line with the broader national goal of cultural and tourism renewal.

“We in Katsina State are taking active steps to preserve our heritage and position it as a tourism asset,” the Governor said. “Our N100 million renovation of the ancient Gobarau Minaret and the N640 million restoration of the National Museum in Katsina are not just about preservation. They represent a deliberate effort to revitalize tourism, create jobs, and inspire pride in our cultural identity.”

Governor Radda emphasized the need for Nigeria to reposition culture, creativity and tourism as powerful drivers of economic growth and national rebranding. He expressed regret that previous administrations did not fully tap into the economic opportunities within the cultural and tourism sectors. According to him, these industries hold immense promise for youth engagement, innovation, and inclusive development—provided they receive the infrastructure and investment they need to thrive.

The Honourable Minister, Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, expressed her gratitude for the visit and lauded the Katsina State Government’s proactive efforts in heritage conservation and tourism development. She reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to building a vibrant creative and tourism economy that supports job creation, cultural pride, and economic diversification.

“This Ministry stands ready to collaborate with forward-thinking state governments like Katsina,” she said. “By working together, we can unlock the full potential of tourism, support our creative talents, and rebrand Nigeria through culture.”

Governor Radda was accompanied by a distinguished delegation including the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Abdulkadir Nasir; Principal Private Secretary, Hon. Abdullahi A. Turaji; Commissioner for Health, Hon. Musa Adamu Funtua; Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning, Dr. Faisal Umar Kaita; Technical Assistant, Dr. Babangida Rimi; and Director, Innercore Consultant on Culture, Musa Umar Yar’adua.

This strategic engagement reflects the growing momentum behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, as both federal and state leaders work together to reimagine Nigeria’s cultural and tourism future.
