Leaders of the All Progressives
Congress (APC) in Ogun Central Senatorial District on Monday resolved to strengthen party unity and embark on an aggressive membership mobilisation drive, with strong emphasis on the ongoing APC e-registration exercise and INEC’s Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).
The resolution was reached at a high-powered stakeholders’ meeting held on January 26, 2026, at the Abeokuta residence of former Governor and party leader, Chief Olusegun Osoba.
The meeting, presided over by the APC Ogun Central Senatorial District Chairman, Chief Sunday Sowunmi brought together elected officials, party executives, government appointees and party elders from across the district, including former House of Representatives member, Hon. Dr. Jelili Kayode Amusan*, whose presence underscored the broad-based support for the party’s renewed mobilisation strategy.
Stakeholders at the meeting unanimously passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, affirming their leadership and commitment to the development of the state and the nation.
They directed Local Government and Ward executives to commence monthly stakeholders’ meetings and immediately roll out intensive membership drives, using both the APC e-registration platform and INEC’s CVR as key tools. Party leaders declared membership expansion a primary performance indicator for all party structures within the district.

The meeting also cautioned against actions capable of undermining party stability, stressing that disagreements must be addressed through constitutionally recognised party organs, while personal interests should remain subordinate to the collective goal of strengthening the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Attendance at the meeting included Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu; Hon. Isiaka Ibrahim, Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives; Hon. Moruf Afolabi Afape; Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Oludaisi Elemide; serving members of the State Assembly; commissioners; former lawmakers; party elders and executives at state, local government and ward levels across Ogun Central Senatorial District.
Speaking after the meeting, Chief Sowunmi said the gathering was convened to review party activities, enhance internal cohesion and energise members for the task ahead, noting the widespread enthusiasm for the ongoing registration exercises.
The communiqué issued at the end of the meeting was unanimously adopted and signed by Chief Sowunmi on behalf of the APC Ogun Central Senatorial District stakeholders
