The Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Poland, retired Maj.- Gen. Christian Ugwu, has pledged to explore new areas of strengthening the bilateral ties between both countries.
Ugwu made the pledge while presenting his Letters of Credence to President Andrzej Duda of Poland amidst at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw, extending the greeting of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Nigerian Embassy in Poland disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja.
Ugwu also sought for the support of President Duda in the eradication of all obstacles hindering the flow of investment and cooperation between Nigeria and Poland.
He expressed his desire to strengthen the already existing bilateral relations between Nigeria and Poland, adding that Nigeria is making tremendous progress in transforming its socio-economic landscape.
“Looking at the various features of relations between the two countries which have been in existence since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1961, there is need for further exploration of potentials in various areas.
“The slow pace of economic activities between the two countries, explaining that one of his major mandates is to spur such activities for the benefit of the two nations.
“I will seek your support in the eradication of all obstacles hindering the flow of investment and cooperation between Nigeria and Poland.
“In the areas of Trade, Agriculture, Oil and Gas, Infrastructure, Mining and Military cooperation,” Ugwu said.
Acknowledging the role Poland played in brokering peaceful settlement of international disputes, and assistance in humanitarian crises, Ugwu expressed admiration for the wise leadership qualities of President Duda.
He commended the President’s efforts in bringing about development to Poland as well as his desire to fully integrate into the European Union in terms of Economic development.
Ugwu also lauded Duda for improving the living standards of Polish citizens for the continued progress and prosperity of the people of Poland.
He expressed his appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari for finding him worthy of appointment as his Principal Envoy to the Republic of Poland.

President Duda in his response assured the Nigerian Envoy of his Sovereign support to succeed in the discharge of his mandates. He said he is interested in collaborating with Nigeria in many areas especially in Agriculture and Defence.
According to the statement, the credentials presentation ceremony was preceded by the inspection of Guard of Honour and laying of wreath by the Nigerian Ambassador.
The usual Diplomatic Vin d’honneur (reception) was hosted by the Nigerian Embassy, Warsaw, after the colourful ceremony and was attended by representatives of the host government, members of the Diplomatic Corps, Leadership of Nigerian Community and friends of Nigeria.
