Be Sincere, Committed To Ending Christians Killing, Reps Tell Buhari

House of Representatives members on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday condemned in strong terms, the continuous killing of Christians in Plateau, Kaduna and other parts of the country by terrorists.

They urged President Muhammadu Buhari to show sincerity and commitment in ending the blood letting.

The group of PDP members made their concerns known, through Rep. Solomon Maren, representing Mangu and Bokkos Federal Constituency of Plateau State.

The PDP lawmakers at the briefing, were from Anambra, Bayelsa, Edo, Kaduna, Pateau, Taraba, Delta and Rivers states.

They lamented that the growing attacks on Christians in Mangu and Bokkos areas, Zangon Kataf and other parts of the North, which they stressed, may have been encouraged by the seeming unwillingness of the President to act.

“We have drifted from the ideas of the founding fathers. Government seems is not only complacent, but to be condoning these hoodlums and probably protecting them by dealing with the issues with kid gloves. Because, no single prosecution of those arrested over the years, no
categorical statement and policy to fight this menace to finish”, the statement read by Maren declared.

“Even when
killer herdsmen were designated and referred to as most dangerous
terrorist gang in the world, our Government, didn’t classify them as such,
one can easily conclude that genocide has been declared on my people as
indeed Plateau State.

“Consequently, we request as follows:
We call on Mr. President to show sincerity and commitment, match words
with actions to secure all Nigerians wherever they are. As commander in
Chief, he should provide security Agencies with modern equipment,
resources and the political will to make them succeed”, the group said.

They also called on “the international community to save our people from been
extinct going by the numbers killed every day, which in alarming, is a cause
for concern”.

The lawmakers pleaded with the government to provide the IDPs with food and “end the genocide”in Plateau State and other parts of the North.

They also called on the International Human Right Organisations, to evoke the chatter on Human rights, in protection of lives in the country.
