The Bauchi State Government in collaboration with the International Skills Acquisition Centre(ISAC) has declared interest in the training of productive farmers especially the youth on modern farming practice and methods to boost production..
Bauchi Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed was speaking weekend when he hosted in audience, officials of ISAC, an Agricultural Centre, led by Pastor John Kennedy Opara, former Executive Secretary, National Christian Pilgrims Welfare Commission(NCPWC) for an interactive meeting held at the Council Chamber, Government House Bauchi.
The Governor observed that, training of youth on modern farming, will enable the beneficiaries become self reliant thereby contributing to the growth and development of the state.
He assured the determination of his administration to leverage on the Central Bank of Nigeria’s agricultural policy in an effort to minimize the level of poverty and hunger in the society.
Governor Mohammed reaffirmed the readiness of the state government in working with both national and international investors to boost agriculture and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
According to him “I am highly delighted to receive our August visitors, team of agricultural experts, working and partnering with you is a welcome development to us in Bauchi.”
“Bauchi is suffering because of the way of our agricultural production, but we are connected with our desire to use our expertise to improve technology and other techniques so that we can provide employment to our teeming youth and raise our GDP.”
The Governor therefore insisted that the administration is determined towards providing the required farm implements to potentials farmers as part of measures to ensure production in line with international best practice.
“Here in Bauchi we have problem with our IGR and my administration must work with partners such as you to overcome the challenges affecting agricultural production.”
On his part, the Chairman of the group, Dr John Kemedy said the group will sign an agreement with the Bauchi state government on intensive agricultural training for farmers in the state in its International Skill Acquisition Centre.
The Chairman noted that, the group is ready to assist the Governor to ensure zero unemployment in the state through the engagement of unemployed youth into various agricultural activities.
