Ahead of the 2023 Presidential election, campaign posters of incumbent Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello were Fridayday displayed on some major roads in Gombei state capital.
This Medium observed that the posters which did not bear any party’s logo but adorned with the Governor’s pictures were seen displayed in some major areas of Gombe metropolis.
Our correspondent reports that the posters which also were on display at all the entry points to the state capital has inscription which read, ” Barka da Sallah To Our Muslim Ummah – Yahaya Bello for President, Federal Republic of Nigeria “.
Our Correspondent further observed that at the bottom of the posters is the inscription, ” courtesy of the Nigerian Youth Awareness Group “,a socio – political Non – Governmental pressure Group believed to be behind the campaign to draft the Governor into the Presidential race.
All efforts to get the reaction of the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the State to the development proved abortive as they were not picking their calls but a chieftain of the party who pleaded anonymity said “Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State is not only a founding member of our great party,APC but a highly
respected chieftain of the party in the country and free to aspire to any political office in the country”.
He however stated that the party in the state has not officially endorsed any aspirant yet for any position, adding that the party has not been contacted by anyone
The posters were pasted at strategic locations in the state capital, including parts of Government House Round about, Gombe Central market area,Tudun wada round about and all the major roads within the state capital. END
