Bauchi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Thursday honoured Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed with the 2020 Super infrastructure award.
Receiving the award before declaring the 2020 NUJ Bauchi Annual Week-long event close, Governor Bala Mohammed expressed gratitude to the union for finding him worthy of the award.
The governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government(SSG), Barrister Ibrahim Kashim assured that his administration will continue to support the union having noted the importance and the role played by its members towards achieving the desired objectives.
He said the state government had enjoyed harmonious working relationship with the NUJ and therefore requested for more to enable the state to be in a very high pedestal where citizens will enjoy dividends of democracy.
He challenged practicing journalists on the need to always be on their toes in order to effectively and efficiently perform their constitutional functions for the betterment of the society.
According to him, members of the Pen profession required a special training and promised that the state government will support them in that direction.
“The state government has been following your activities since the commencement of your week and is satisfied with number of innovations introduced,, hoping that other unions will copy from my great union.”
“We are so far glad that journalists in the state have been partners in progress and this relationship is being witnessed through the volume of coverage of our activities.”
Governor Bala Mohammed therefore announced plans by his administration to resuscitate the state owned media organisations, the Bauchi State Television, the Bauchi Radio Corporation and the Ministry of Information with a view to restoring their lost glory as well as to further create awareness on the laudable government policies and programs.
