From Segun Babatunde in Bauchi

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano state has been warned to tread with caution its process of getting a gubernatorial candidate for the 2023 election by avoiding issues that may lead to it losing the seat.

The warning was given by a stalwart of the APC in Kano state, Shu’ayb Darki who is also a founding member of the party in the state while speaking with a group of Journalists in Bauchi.

According to him, “It is globally accepted that the most globally accepted definition of politics, is government of the people by the people and for the people. But unfortunately enough, the case is not the same in Kano state.

He alleged that,”the government is controlled by only four people which comprises the Governor himself, his wife, the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Murtala Sule Garo and the former Chairman of the ruling party in the state, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas” .

According to Shuaibu Darki, “The three pull the string of the Governance as they take major decisions of the government with or without the consent of the septuagenarian Governor including who gets appointed into any position under the Ganduje-led administration and who flies the flag of the party in the race to occupy any elective position in the state”.

He further alleged that, “And in most cases, to them it’s one’s power of the purse that buys him the party’s nomination to vie for the seat one is interested in. No matter the support of the people you enjoy, if these three have no interest in you, they will not deem it right to respect the interest of the people because it is the same people that come out en-massé to vote for them”.

According to him, “If these people know that politics is all about giving people, the electorates, what they want, they will not have giving fielding Sen. Barau I. Jibrin as the successor of the incumbent Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje a second thought being the political darling of the good people of Kano State”.

He said that There no close-knit community or stomping ground in Kano one goes and don’t hear people even from the opposition parties talking about Sen. Barau Jibrin and expressing their readiness to go out en massé and vote for him on the voting day.

“No category of people that does not have Barau Jibrin at heart, ranging from the youths, the women, business men and even the academics simply because they believe that if in the long run he becomes the Governor of our dear state their long-standing dreams are really going to be actualized”, he added.

Shuaibu Darki said that, “His proudest achievements as Senator are clear indicators that he has the common man at heart as he has impacted positively on the lives of his constituents and on the other hand the entire people of Kano by establishing and bringing thirteen Open Universities to his constituency which has thirteen Local Governments”.

He said that one in each Local Government in the Kano North senatorial district and has donated hundred of millions of Naira to sons and daughters of have-nots to further their studies within and outside Nigeria.

Also, “In the area of road network, there is no Local Government you can go in his constituency where he has not constructed 25-30 kilometers tarred road for the benefit of the common man. In the area of empowerment, job creation, the public-spirited senator has provided no fewer than 70000 youths with capital to start up businesses for self-reliance and to nip all sorts of social vices in the bud”.

The APC stalwart further said that, “In the area of rural electrification, he has electrified more villages than any senator in the history of Nigeria. Likewise, in the area of games, he has provided multi million naira busses and other equipments to several football clubs from across the state, the ones he has recently given to Kano Pillars, Ganduje babies and lots more substantiate the point I am making here”.
