Three die, three injured in Mai Tula convoy crash

Serious accident has claimed three lives and three injured, accident involving the convoy of the Mai Tula, Alhaji Abubakar Buba Atare at Kumo in Gombe State while on his way to Tula in Kaltungo Local Government area of the state.


Danjuma Mohammed, also known as Wakili Mota, the chief cook, Mohammed Lawal also known Sokale Tula and a police Constable, Adamu Ibrahim who was attached to the Mai Tula pilot car died in the accident.


It was reliably gathered that two of the victims died on the spot when a J5 Peugeot overtaking a Dangote truck lost control and ran into the convoy. The police Constable, Adamu Ibrahim however died of internal injuries at the Federal Teaching Hospital FTH where he was rushed to for medical treatment.


Three other persons who sustained various degrees of injuries were rushed to Federal Teaching Hospital, FTH, Gombe for treatment.


Sources also stated that the only one of the injured has been reportedly released while others are still on admission in the hospital.


According to Mai Tula, the late Danjuma joined the palace crew in 1981 when the late Mai recruited him as his personal driver.


Sources hinted that Danjuma was already working with the wife of the late Mai Tula who is the mother of Abubakar Buba Atare, the current Mai Tula before she married the royal father.


Speaking on the accident, the Mai Tula said the death of the duo are great loss to the royal family because he knew them as members of the household while growing up.


According to him, “It was a great loss to me personally and to the entire Tula chiefdom because these are men I grew up knowing as members of the royal household. So I feel the pains as personal loss and pray that Almighty Allah will repose their souls,”.
