AGE FALSIFICATION: CLERK TO NASS, ARCH AMOS OJO DISGRACED BY COMMISSION

The Clerk to the National Assembly Architect Amos Ojo disgraced and rubbished by the on going National Assembly Commission panel screening directors and secretaries over age falsification and tampering of their files.

The National Assembly Commission set up panel to investigate those directors and secretaries including the out going Clerk to the National Assembly.

The Clerk was said to be annoyed for his inclusion in the ongoing probe and refused to cooperate the panel. He was said to have walked out of the panel and went to report the panel to the chairman of the commission.

But to his disappointment, the chairman was said to have told him to go and cooperate with the panel because it was a procedure that he has to follow.

The Clerk was said to have quoted that since he is leaving, there was no need for him to be investigated, unknown to him that the panel was given the mandate to investigate all the directors and the secretaries.

The target of the commission was to block the Clerk who was planning to stay till February next year when in actual fact he should be going this month

It was also a prelude to penciling down those who may be qualified to be the next clerk and also to fill other vacant positions

It woukd be recalled that concerned staff members and stakeholders of the National Assembly have raised the alarm about plans by the incumbent Clerk to the National Assembly, CNA, Architect Amos Ojo to continue in office even when he is supposed to begin his pre-retirement leave on 14th November, 2022.

According to feelers, Arc Ojo was trying to avoid leaving office in commencement and observance of his pre-retirement leave because of his desperation to remain in office.

Similarly, it was learnt that Arc Ojo is about to travel out of the country on the grounds of medical challenge so as to stay away from proceeding on his pre-retirement leave.

An inside source hinted that Arc Ojo has gone as far as to influence some commissioners not to issue his likely successor with his letter.

His plan, according a source, was that his successor should not be issued his letter until sometimes in December, when he intended to return to the country.

This ugly development is already generating bickerings among staff members who have expressed shock and disappointment at his “stay put” attitude.

Some stakeholders recalled that before Arc. Ojo, former CNAs like Alh Ibrahim Salim, Nasir Arab and Ogunyomi Ogunyemi all proceeded on their mandatory pre-retirement leave except for Alh Abubakar Salisu Maikasuwa who voluntarily left six months to his retirement.

Unfortunately, Alhaji Sani Omolori was not that lucky to get the privilege to proceed on such leave.

Staff members wonder why Arc Ojo delights in creating dangerous precedents.

They also warned that he (Arc. Ojo) should be conscious of the fragile and tense environment under which they are operating right now,; if not, they’ll create a situation where the ongoing budget process will be disrupted and the premises made very hostile.

They, however, called on the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) Chairman and his commissioners to rise up to the occasion and save it.

One person, they opined should not be left unchecked to create confusion before he leaves.

They called on the commission to disregard Arc Ojo’s plans and antics to frustrate a seemless process of succession.
