Gombe APC,PDP chieftains dump party, Join NNPP

Prominent chieftains of the ruling All Progressive Congress APC and the opposition People’s Democratic Party PDP in Gombe yesterday dumped the two parties and defected to the New Nigeria People’s Party NNPP.

The party chieftains include political lieutenants of prominent Gombe politician and campaign coordinator for Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, Malam Iyaku Jamil Gwamna and four former Deputy Local Government Chairmen of Biliri, Kwami and Nafada Local Government areas.

The trio of Ibrahim Adamu (Uban Dawakin Gombe), Hon. Sani Garba Anaruwa and Auwal Chiburos who with Jamilu Gwamna before yesterday decamped to the NNPP after meeting with the Party’s guber candidate, Hon. Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki in Abuja.

Hon. Ibrahim was one time Deputy local government Chairman and Special Assistant to Governor Dankwambo; Hon. Sani Garba Anaruwa was Gwamna’s Protocol Officer, former Special Assistant to Governor Dankwambo and Gombe South in 2019 state assembly aspirant while Auwal Chiburos was also a Special Assistant to Governor Dankwambo and presently the Northeast Chairman of the Coalition of Self Employers of Nigeria.

The defected former Deputy Local Government Chairmen include Hon.Yila Dankuka, a former deputy chairman, Billiri Local Government who served from 2013 to 2015, Hon. Philip Bataliya who also served as deputy Chairman, Billiri local government in 2003.

Others include; Hon. Auwalu Rabiu Daba, a former deputy chairman of Kwami local government, Hon. Aliyu Idris Biri former Deputy chairman of Nafada local government and Hon. Muhammed Balas Tal, a former Councillor Tall Ward in Billiri local government between 2013 and 2015.

They joined the NNPP after meeting the Gombe NNPP Governorship candidate for the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

It could be recalled that, Gwamna who was the immediate past Managing Director (MD), Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) contested the PDP’s 2023 gubernatorial ticket in Gombe State and became the second runner up to the party’s flagbearer, Muhammed Jibrin Barde.

He however returned to the APC and was immediately appointed as the Inuwa/Tinubu 2023 governorship campaign coordinator in the state.

NNPP has been waxing stronger becoming the major opposition party in Gombe State.

Prominent party stalwarts and supporters from both the APC and PDP have been joining its fold ahead of the 2023 general election.
