ABU Alumni Association Calls For Resuscitation Of Nigeria ‘s Ailing Industries

The Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Alumni Association has advised President Bola Tinubu’s led administration to ensure adequate funding of the nation’s education sector towards enhancing growth and development in the country.

The President, ABU Alumni Association, Worldwide, Dr. Sani Khalil gave the advice in Abuja during a Re-Union and Get -Together Celebration organized by the FCT Branch of the Association.

Dr. Khalil who described education as the bedrock of development also urged the present administration to consider granting scholarship to indigent students to alleviate their plights and ensure education for all Nigerians.

According to him, the School Loan is a laudable initiative by President Bola Tinubu but a lot still needed to be done as most beneficiaries might not be able to repay due to lack of employment opportunities in the country.

While stressing the need for effective Entrepreneurship Studies in the nation’s tertiary Institutions, the President of ABU Alumni Association, Worldwide called for the resuscitation of the country ‘s ailing industrial towards creating jobs for Nigerian graduates.

In a remark, the Immediate past President of the Association, Prof. Ahmed Tijani Mora commended the FCT Branch of ABU Alumni Association for organizing the event and advised members to unite towards ensuring the progress of the Association.

Prof. Tijani Mora who emphasized the roles of Alumni Association towards national development said the Association should not relent in complimenting the efforts of Government in the development of the nation ‘s education sector.

On her part, the Diaspora Coordinator of ABU Alumni Association in the United States of America, Dr. Nonye Onyewuenyi said efforts are being made to effectively sensitize members in the Diaspora towards contributing their quota to the betterment of the Association in Nigeria.

She therefore called for harmonious cordial relationship among members for the benefits of the Association and Nigeria in general.

Earlier, the Caretaker Chairman of ABU Alumni Association, FCT Branch, Mr Sam Agbi said the occasion was organized to re-unite the members and remind them of their responsibilities to the Association and their former Institution.

Mr Agbi stated that the Association had put necessary measures in place to enhance welfare of members through adequate networking and improve the performance of the Association towards educational development in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

He therefore advised all members to be alive to their responsibilities and be committed to the progress of the Association.

Highlights of the event were paper presentation and lectures as well as entertainment of members and guests.
