The Wife of the Former Vice Chancellor of University of Abuja, Mrs Naomi Olapetan Adelabu this Sunday held a special church service and donated drinks as well as detergent to inmates of Nigerian Correctional Service, Custodial Model Farm Centre, Dukpa in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.
The gesture was to mark her 60th birthday celebration.
Presenting the items in Dukpa Abuja, Mrs Naomi Olapetan Adelabu who is also the Matron of Divine Love of Christ, Abuja said the move was to show love and put smiles on the faces of the inmates in a accordance to the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
She stated that the gesture was also to give them a sense of belonging and raise their hope for a better tomorrow not minding their current situation.
Mrs Adelabu who enjoined the inmates not to see their present condition as the end of their life stressed the need for them to always meditate in the words of God and give their lives to Jesus Christ who is the author and finisher of their faith.
She emphasized the need for skills acquisition for inmates of Correctional Centres to enable them to be self reliant and be useful to themselves after gaining their freedom.
“The essence of the visit is to let them know that they’re not forgotten and prison is not their home hence the need for us to always remember them in prayer and substance to enable the inmates have hope for the future” She added
In a remark, the President of Divine Love of Christ, Abuja, Mr Gbemileke Moses described Mrs Naomi Adelabu as a woman of virtue who has over the years dedicated her lift to the service of God and humanity.
While congratulating her on the occasion of her birthday on behalf of all the members of the Association, Mr Gbemileke Moses enjoined Mrs Naomi Adelabu not to relent in assisting the poor and the needy in the society to further attract God’s blessings and favour in all her endeavour.
Delivering a brief sermon during the event, the Chairman, Evangelism Committee of First Baptist Church, Gwagwalada Abuja, Mr Mathew Mobolaji who encouraged the inmates through the story of Joseph in the bible advised them to continue to abide by the rules and regulations of the Centre and believe in God for a better tomorrow.
Mr Mathew Mobolaji who stated that all things worked for good for those that loved God stressed the need for them to always looked unto God and not man adding that the Lord would give them a new song if they remain steadfast in faith and prayers.
Receiving the items, the Chaplain of Nigerian Correctional Service, Custodial Model Farm Centre, Dukpa Abuja, Pastor Towoju Olarenwaju commended Mrs Naomi Adelabu for celebrating her special day with the inmates which he described as in line with the teachings of the holy bible.
Pastor Olarenwaju admonished other well meaning Nigerians most especially christians to emulate Mrs Naomi Adelabu to further ensure a better society and win more souls to the kingdom of God.
According to him, the society will be a better place if wealthy Nigerians irrespective of tribe, political or religious differences give priority to the wellbeing of the needy and the less privileged in the country.

Highlights of the event was monetary pledge by the Divine Love of Christ, Abuja to ease the transport fare of inmates that would be discharged in September, this year.
