The people of Ilejemeje/Moba/Ido-Osi of Ekiti North Federal Constituency (II) in Ekiti State filed out in large numbers and with huge determination elected the then Candidate of All Progressive Congress, Akinlayo Kolawole to represent the constituency in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly.
It is obvious that the victory conferred series and enormous responsibilities on the Lawmaker to deliver his promises during the campaign to the people who have long craved for quality and impactful representation over the years.
Akinlayo who is a Philanthropist and a successful Businessman with a clear-cut agenda and blueprint for his people, did not find it difficult to hit the ground running in the National Assembly.
After the inauguration of both the House of Representatives and Senate on the 13th of June 2023, it is of 100 days, Akinlayo has spent as the Representative of the people.
Having in mind the core mandates of a Legislator, which are: executive oversight, legislation, constituency outreach and valued representation, the first 100 days in office of Akinlayo being a devoted servant to his people has made it easily possible to tick the boxes in each of the core mandate by making impactful programmes in the lives of the people.
Akinlayo belongs to many committees which shall be unveiled as the House is resuming plenary and business of the parliament in days incoming.
With him not being a Chairman of any House Committee, he has demonstrated his readiness for the task ahead in lawmaking. One of the Bill co-sponsored with other members, on time frame for the function of the Clerk of the National Assembly to enhance timely dividends to get to the people is of note.
Few out of many that will be heard soon are motions to strengthen the Public Complaint Commission (PCC) for proper yields; call to Commercial Banks in reversing to status quo ante regarding the daily limit withdrawal from ATM and the completion of Bills for establishment thus (The establishment of College of Agriculture, Otun Ekiti) etc. These and other motions and bills of Institutional establishment are in the pipeline and are to be laid before the parliament at this resumption from its recess. These establishments are to be done and located in his Constituency.
Going through Ekiti North Federal Constituency (II) presently, many projects are ongoing while many are also coming, knowing fully well that a journey of one thousand (1000) miles starts with a step. Apart from Financial Assistance in tune with his purse to many of his Constituents as Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) across boards, he has procured two (2) giant Transformers into fulfilling his promises to some Communities during his campaign. Many Constituency projects will be due for commissioning within the next few weeks which includes but not limited to ICT Centers, Solar Powered Boreholes, grading of roads. All these shall be seen in our upcoming Constituency Bulletin.
As a way of ensuring sense of belonging and entrench inclusiveness, an enlarged numbers of persons is to be appointed by him as Aides, with not less than 2 persons from each of the 32 Wards in the Constituency. Aside the monthly financial benefit to the appointees, it is the believe that this gesture would in no small measure enhance the trust and confidence of the Constituents in their Representative.
Considering the growing level of unemployment among the youths, the Lawmaker in the last 100 days through his networking and lobbying, has been able to put in place the process of securing jobs for the youths of his Constituency in various government establishments. The collation of data of unemployed youths is being done via CVs submitted to the official email. Again, as a way of cushioning the effect of unemployment among the youths, training of fifteen (15) youths across boards will soon commence for skill acquisition.
In what would be an unprecedented form in the Constituency, Akinlayo is into earnestly embarking on serious erosion control projects, social interventions and community engagement etc.
The item of having Constituency office is getting to its conclusion in enabling his people to constantly engage him and bring forth issues of utmost importance within.
It’s no doubt that the people of Ilejemeje/Moba/Ido-Osi would be having the best of time at the moment, courtesy of the selfless, courteous and impartial representation of Akinlayo Kolawole. Our hope and believe is that in the few days, weeks, months and years to come, the good people of Ekiti North Federal Constituency (II) will offer Akinlayo more support in his quest in the focused changing the face of representation in the Constituency
Having spent 100 days in office, the good people of Ilejemeje/Moba /Ido-Osi should sit back patiently and watch as the Lawmaker unfolds his plans vis actions and responsibilities in the National Assembly, for the overall development of human and capital as concerns the Constituency.
