CCWA Advocates Legislation On Protection Of Rights Of Widows

Christians have been advised to always love and embrace one another in accordance with the teachings of the holy bible towards promoting peace and tranquility in the country

The Founder and President of a faith based organisation, Christian Care for Widows, Widowers, Aged and Orphans, CCWA, Prof. Deborah Ajakaiye gave the advice in Abuja during a forum for its members from the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

Prof. Ajakaiye said the forum was aimed at brainstorming on how to tackle the major challenges faced by widows, widowers, aged and orphans through seminars, workshops, symposium and other empowerment programmes as part of the christian care fellowship

She stated that the age long Non-Governmental Organization has been targeted to put smiles on the faces of windows, aged and orphans because of the suffering and loneliness they face among other numerous life threatening challenges

Prof. Ajakaiye stressed that the major objectives of CCWA, is to impact positively on their lives by providing the needed care physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually as well as giving them a sense of belonging in accordance to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

She emphasized that through the kind gesture of CCWA over the years, a lot of souls had been won for Christ as most of them no longer depend on worldly things for survival noting that most of them are now self reliant through the numerous empowerment programmes and skills acquisition provided by the Organisation.

In a remark, a Zonal Coordinator of CCWA, Mrs Dupe Kasimawo said widows, widowers, aged and orphans drawn from the six geo – political zones had benefited greatly through enormous empowerment programmes rendered by the Organisation aimed at equipping members to face the current situations and realities of life

She stated that plans were ongoing on sponsoring of a Bill on the protection of widows rights in the National Assembly as well as partnering with Government Agencies to facilitate the training of members on small scale businesses in several states across the federation for self reliance

Members drawn from various geo – political zones of the country commended CCWA for its age long kind gesture and called on the Federal Government to come up with necessary legal framework to ameliorate the sufferings of widows, aged and orphans as well as the less privileged in the country.

Highlights of the event was the presentation of certificate to some hard working members representing their various zones as well as relief items to all members among others
