The Commander General of Nigeria Hunter and Forest Security Service, NHFSS, Ambassador Joshua Osatimehin has commended Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State for the donation of one Hilux vehicle to the State Command of the Service.
Speaking with newsmen in Abuja on the donation, Ambassador Joshua Osatimehin said the move would further enhance the operation of NHFSS in combating insecurity most especially in the forest in Oyo State.
He stated that the Service had been complimenting the efforts of the Police and other formal security organizations in Oyo State in the fight against crimes and criminality across nook and cranes of the State.
“Let me recall that in the month of September we arrested in collaboration with the Nigeria Police we arrested eleven bandits in one of the forest in Oyo State and with the addition of this Hilux vehicle to our organization, it will create effective operation especially in the forest because for us to navigate through the forest terrain one needs operational Hilux and we’re indeed grateful for this kind gesture ” the NHFSS Boss explained
According to him, apart from the Hilux vehicle, the State’s Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has also promised to donate ten motorcycles to each Local Government Commands of NHFSS in the State to ensure optimal performance by officers and men of the Service in the task of protecting lives and property in the State.
“By that calculation, in a couple of weeks we’ve been having 330 motorcycles to aid the operation of NHFSS in the 33 Local Government of the State therefore on behalf of the Organization, we remain grateful to Governor Seyi Makinde and we pledged our continuous support to his administration to enable him succeed in protecting the people of the State ” Ambassador Osatimehin stressed.
He used the opportunity to appeal to other State Governments nationwide to emulate the gesture of Oyo State Government to enable Nigeria overcome its security challenges.
“Let me also placed on record that last year the Governor of Osun State gave us three vehicles and sixty two motorcycles likewise Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State who gave us six Hilux vehicles and over two hundred motorcycles , so we’re using this opportunity to appeal to other State Governors most especially in the South West, North East and North West of Nigeria to support NHFSS towards creating smooth collaboration between our organization and other constituted authority”He emphasized.
The Commander General of NHFSS equally appealed to President Bola Tinubu to sign the NHFSS Bill into law towards realizing his renewed hope agenda in the area of security in the country.
While reiterating the commitment of NHFSS towards combating kidnapping, banditry, insurgency, boko haram and other forms of crimes and criminality in the country, Ambassador Joshua Osatimehin advised Officers and men of NHFSS nationwide to contribute meaningfully to the realization of the objectives of the Service.
