PROF. OJO BAKARE ELECTED CHAIRMAN, FORUM OF ARTS, CULTURE AND TOURISM COMMISSIONERS


Ekiti State Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Professor Rasaki Ojo Bakare has been unanimously elected as Chairman, Forum of Commissioners for Culture, Tourism, Arts, Heritage and Creative Economy in Nigeria.

The first Professor of Choreography and Performance
Aesthetics in Africa was elected at the Forum’s meeting in Abuja, and he will lead his colleagues from all the states of Nigeria for an initial term of two years. The choice of Bakare is a wise and smart one.

The Professor is heavily experienced within the sector having been a practicing Creative artiste for 43 years, a researcher, lecturer, and scholar of performing arts and tourism for 34 years, a former assistant director, National Troupe of Nigeria, a former Choreographer, National Troupe of Gambia, a former Artistic Director/CEO Abuja National Carnival and one of the most internationally sought after Consultants in the creative sector.

In his home state, Ekiti, the 1997 Ekiti merit award winner( Culture sector) and 2013 recipient of Ekiti Cultural Ambassador, has tremendously uplifted the sector since he became the Commissioner in December 2019.

It is therefore expected that he will lead his colleagues to influence policies and actions that will impact the sector all over the country. Other elected executive officers of the Forum that will work with Bakare are:
