The Head of Programs and Director of Product Marketing at the African Institute of Technology and Innovation (AITI), Mr. Adewale Yusuf, has disclosed that based on available data globally, key on demand Jobs are all tech related, therefore government should take advantage of this huge global tech market to train young people in tech related skills to drive the economy.
Mr. Adewale Yusuf said this on Thursday during a live radio appearance on Creative Nigeria, a weekly Tourism and Cultural magazine program on Mainland 98.3 FM, Lagos anchored by veteran award-winning cultural tourism journalist, Frank Meke and Bunmi Bade Adeniji every Thursday, he noted that what Nigerians need now is a mind shift change to Technology.
“We are already in a tech-enabled world and it is going to get even much more tech-enabled, and for you to be a functioning member of the society and deliver value in today’s global world, you need to learn a tech skill to be able to perform certain functions in tech.
“Before what we had was a chequebook, but now we have credit cards. Before the computer was introduced, people used to use typewriters.
However, based on actual data, a huge chunk of jobs that exist are all tech-related.
Tech is already a big deal in the today, as Africans, we certainly need to catch up with the Western world, and to achieve this the government needs to make deliberate efforts to empower young Nigerians with In demand tech skills to take them off the street, said the tech expert.
The Tech Expert also emphasised on the importance of investing in tech education to drive sustainable economic growth and hence tech in-demand skills among young people, as tech is the new gold main that can be used to create employment for the Youths.
The African Institute of Technology and Innovation (AITI) offers training and development for young people who are ambitious and visionary about tech, providing tech skills that meet the ever revolving innovative world of tech.
“Now, Tech is a huge field and we have created an institute where the most important set of skills that you can learn to thrive in the world of technology are things that you can learn with us.
Speaking on the notion that tech is difficult to learn, Mr. Yusuf said, “We also understand that there is the notion that tech is difficult. There is a notion that tech is a bit hard to learn. And I always say that tech really is not hard. You just aren’t doing it in the right environment, for you know.
“Just like when you take a fish and put it on a dry land to climb a mountain, it becomes a difficult task because of the environment, but when you put that same fish in a bottle filled with water, it becomes easy for it to swim to the top.”
“For us in AITI, we do not just teach teach skills. We take you from the foundation, equipping you with the right foundational knowledge to succeed in tech.”
“We want everybody interested in tech to be able to learn tech skills at an affordable price successfully.
Just like we have new technology like the block chain, front-end, back-end, product manager, product design UI/UX, artificial intelligence, and cyber security. All we need from you is for you to give us your time and commitment, he said.
