A NEW DAWN FOR TOURISM IN SOUTHWEST NIGERIA: ATPN PRESIDENT CHAMPIONS A TOURISM RENAISSANCE

The Southwest tourism industry is on the brink of a new era of growth and transformation, as the President of the Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN) embarked on a strategic two-day tour of Ibadan, engaging with key stakeholders to unlock the region’s tourism potential.
A major highlight of the tour was a pivotal meeting with the Director General of the DAWN Commission, Mr. Seye Oyeleye, and his team.

Recognizing the ATPN President’s remarkable track record in tourism advocacy and destination development, the DG commended his vision and pledged the full support of the DAWN Commission in working collaboratively with ATPN and the umbrella body of tourism, FTAN, to drive a comprehensive tourism development agenda across the Southwest.

Speaking with conviction and urgency, the ATPN President declared: “The time is right—let’s unleash the tourism potential of the Southwest!

Our region is a treasure trove of history, culture, and natural wonders. We cannot afford to keep its immense opportunities untapped. This is the moment to unite, innovate, and create a thriving tourism economy that benefits our people and positions the Southwest as a premier destination in Africa.”

This strategic engagement signals a new dawn for tourism in Southwest Nigeria, with renewed collaboration between industry stakeholders, policymakers, and development agencies.

As the ATPN President leads the charge, the call to action is clear: it is time to move beyond discussions and take decisive steps to build a dynamic, sustainable, and globally competitive tourism industry in the region.
