The Stupid Federal Honourable from Ekiti State,!

Well, when critically-minded and lavishly educated people choose to stay away from politics, others with just a modicum of manners will seize the opportunity. That’s how we ended up with one of the current members of the Federal House of Representatives from Ekiti State.

I can’t even remember his name right now. Maybe I will before I finish writing this piece. But you know him — young, active, passionate, energetic, articulate, fashionable, brilliant, and outspoken.

But that young man is a very stupid fellow. Yes, stupid — and he has been acting stupidly since his election into the House of Representatives.

The stupid one — the only one who dares to be different.

A young man who, against all odds, dared to contest. Even his own shadow doubted his chances. Nobody gave him hope. He was dismissed as another political greenhorn — lacking pedigree, lacking a war chest, and without political godfathers.

And yet, he beat the incumbent silly.

But alas, who can curse whom God has blessed? He won — not by accident, but through sheer determination, relentless hard work, and divine grace.

Now that he’s in the House, what did we expect from him? Simple. To recoup. To sit tight in Abuja, recover “campaign investments,” chase juicy contracts, lobby for personal enrichment, buy luxury SUVs, and decorate a mansion in Lekki. After all, that’s what reasonable Nigerian politicians do.

But not this stupid one.

Stupidly, he believes public office is public service. He thinks governance is not a business venture, but a social contract. While others are signing MOUs to fatten their wallets, this fool is busy signing progress into the lives of his constituents.

Instead of protecting his “first-timer” badge like a delicate trophy, he’s running himself ragged — sponsoring bills, moving motions, and physically monitoring constituency projects. As if effectiveness is not political suicide in today’s Nigeria.

He has stupidly transformed into a whirlwind of impact:

He’s giving back to his people forgetting, perhaps, that Nigerian politics punishes sincerity. He facilitated solar-powered boreholes in Iye and Osi Ekiti; installed streetlights in Ire-Akari, Eda-Oniyo, and Iye; and fully equipped ICT centres in Ilogbo, Iye, and Otun Ekiti.

He didn’t just show up at Otun General Hospital for the cameras — he brought in modern health equipment. In Ido Ekiti, he illuminated the Oba’s palace and the marketplace with solar lighting. Through smart partnerships, he trained hundreds of youths in tech, in collaboration with Bamidele Olumilua University.

He distributed over 1,000 JAMB forms to the indigent. Paid NECO fees for final-year students of Ikosu Comprehensive High School. Graded township roads. Facilitated federal employment for qualified Ekiti youths.

He trained over 1,500 young men and women in both hard and soft skills — from software design to soap-making; from data science to digital entrepreneurship; from ethical hacking to cake and pastries; from cloud computing to bag-making.

And as if that wasn’t enough, this fool ventured deeper into legislative business.

He has sponsored bills to establish a School of Health Technology in Ikosu Ekiti, and a Federal College of Agriculture in Otun Ekiti. He moved motions to empower the Public Complaint Commission, to reverse exploitative ATM withdrawal limits, and to push the National Boundary Commission to resolve the Eda Oniyo–Obo Ayegunle land dispute.

And guess what? He’s not a legislative wallflower. He sits on no fewer than a dozen crucial committees: Finance, Army, Petroleum (Upstream), Housing, Ports and Harbours, Ecological Fund, Federal Polytechnics, National Planning, Population, Student Loans, Scholarships — name it.

In the 10th Assembly, Honourable Davidson Akinlayo Kolawole , representing Moba- Ilejemeje – Ido Osi , the so-called stupid one has proven to be a luminous anomaly.

So yes, he’s stupid. Stupid in a country where selfishness is wisdom.
Stupid in a system that punishes public-spiritedness. Stupid for choosing the path of service, sincerity, and sacrifice — over comfort, silence, and self-interest.

But if this is stupidity, may Nigeria be blessed with more stupid leaders.

Let the nation watch. For in this era of calculated cowardice and selective memory, one Honourable from Ekiti has chosen to be different and dangerously effective.

We need this kind of stupidity.

May God bless Hon. Davidson Akinlayo Kolawole His stupidity is a blessing to his constituents.

And may he never be wise.

Good day, everyone.

Signed,
Wale Ojo-Lanre, Esq.
Usi Ekiti
