ATPN Oyo State Coordinator, Dr. Kola Lawal, Resigns from Association

Cites administrative challenges and unresolved membership issues as the National President calls for calm

The Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN) wishes to formally acknowledge the resignation of Dr. Kola Lawal, FNITP, RTP, DFCIHTMA, FIMC, from the Association and from his role as the Protem Chairman / State Coordinator, ATPN Oyo State Chapter, effective immediately.

In his notice of resignation, Dr. Lawal stated that the decision was taken following administrative concerns encountered within the South West regional structure of the Association. He highlighted that outstanding issues regarding the regularization of his membership, coupled with procedural uncertainties, made it increasingly difficult to discharge his duties in alignment with established professional standards.

Dr. Lawal further referenced recent internal developments that contributed to operational strain within the zone, including actions attributed to the Vice President, South West Nigeria, Hon. Apata, which has been the subject of debate among stakeholders. Reports indicate that these actions included leadership decisions affecting the Ekiti State Chapter, prompting calls for broader consultation and adherence to institutional protocols.

In response to these concerns, the National President of ATPN, Prince Femi Fadina, has urged all members and stakeholders to remain calm while assuring that the National Executive Council (NEC) will undertake a thorough review of the issues raised. He reiterated the Association’s commitment to due process, organizational stability, and the preservation of its longstanding reputation for professionalism and orderliness.

The National President further affirmed that ATPN remains dedicated to fostering a cohesive and structured environment for tourism practitioners across the country and will continue to uphold the values enshrined in its constitution.

While stepping down from his role, Dr. Lawal expressed his continued resolve to contribute to the development of tourism in Nigeria through platforms that promote collaboration, institutional integrity, and sectoral growth. He also conveyed his appreciation for the opportunity to have served in an interim leadership capacity.
