To my dearest Uncle, Confidant, and Benefactor — Abagun Kole Omololu, on Your 70th Birthday.
Happy 70th Birthday, my beloved Uncle!
Today, as you hit this magnificent milestone of three score and ten, I am filled with overwhelming gratitude for the gift that you are to my family, to Ikaleland, to the entire Yoruba nation and Nigeria at large. You are the absolute definition of an Omoluabi—a true Yoruba patriot whose fierce love for our heritage is matched only by the deep, unconditional compassion of your humane heart.
To the world, you are a leader and a custodian of our values. But to me, you are my closest confidant, my anchor, and a benefactor whose generosity has shaped my path in ways words can never fully capture. Your wisdom has been my guiding light, and your unwavering belief in me has been my strength.
It breaks my heart that I cannot physically be in Lagos with you today to raise a toast and celebrate the incredible life you have built. However, there is a beautiful irony in my absence: I am currently standing on the frontlines of that pressing assignment—the very cause where your strategic vision, quiet guidance, and monumental support are playing a critical role in bringing to life. This, even in my absence, I am executing your vision.
