Hon. Babatunde Dada, Commissioner representing the South-West on the Northwest Development Commission, has donated a brand-new grass-cutting machine to St. Andrew’s School, Usi-Ekiti, in fulfilment of a promise he made during the recently concluded election.

Hon. Dada visited the school on Saturday, June 20, 2026, to exercise his civic responsibility when he observed that the school premises had become heavily overgrown with grass.

Concerned about the condition of the environment and the possible danger it posed to the pupils and members of staff, he immediately responded to a request from the school management by promising to provide a grass-cutting machine.

True to his word, Hon. Dada returned to the school at noon on Monday, June 22, 2026, and formally presented a brand-new grass-slashing machine to the management.

The equipment was donated during a brief but well-attended ceremony held on the school premises. Teachers, pupils, political associates, community members and Hon. Dada’s ten personal assistants witnessed the presentation.

Speaking during the ceremony, Hon. Dada explained that the donation was motivated by compassion for the pupils and his commitment to supporting a clean, safe and conducive learning environment.

«“When I came to St. Andrew’s School, Usi-Ekiti, on Saturday to vote, I observed that the entire premises had been overtaken by grass. Following a request from the school management and moved by concern for the welfare of the pupils, I promised to donate a new grass-cutting machine. Today, I have fulfilled that promise,” he said.»

He stressed that children should be allowed to learn in an environment that protects their health, safety and general well-being.

Hon. Dada also called on well-meaning individuals, public office holders, old students and community leaders to complement the efforts of the government by supporting schools and other public institutions within their communities.

The school management expressed profound appreciation to Hon. Dada for his prompt and compassionate intervention, describing the donation as timely, practical and worthy of emulation.

Members of the school community noted that the new machine would make it easier to maintain the premises regularly, reduce the risks associated with overgrown vegetation and improve the general appearance of the school.

The gesture further demonstrates Hon. Babatunde Dada’s commitment to grassroots development, responsive leadership and the welfare of children and residents of his community.
