The House of Representatives has passed for second reading a bill seeking to upgrade the Federal School of Medical Laboratory Science Jos to Federal College of science and technology Jos.
In a release signed by Umar Muhammad Puma Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Speaker explained that the bill, which was sponsored by the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt Hon Ahmed Idris Wase, seeks to repeal the Federal School of Medical Laboratory (Science) Jos act 2018 and enact the Federal College of Science and Technology.
Leading the debate on the general principles of the bill, the Deputy Speaker said the bill if passed into law will provide courses leading to diplomas and certificates in medical laboratory and technology courses and for related matters
He emphasized the importance of the bill, saying it will provide the youths the opportunity to acquire knowledge in medical laboratory and technology courses.
The bill is titled; A bill for an act to repeal the Federal School of Medical Laboratory (Science) Jos act 2018 and enact the Federal College of Science and Technology, Jos to provide courses leading to diplomas and certificates in medical laboratory and technology courses and for related matters .
The bill was unanimously adopted by the House and it was referred to the committee on health institutions for further legislative inputs.
