Men of the Nigerian Police Force has arrested a middle aged woman who allegedly burnt the hand of her eight-year old errand girl for misplacing N100.
The suspect, who was simply identified as Ann, was accosted at her residence along Leisure Palace Hotel, Byazhin in Kubwa, Abuja, in the early hours of Tuesday by the police who received a distress call from another resident in the area.
An eyewitness revealed that one of neighbours decided to rush to the nearest police station after she discovered that the minor ran away from home on Monday night and spent the night in front of her house.
“The little girl was sent to buy N100 MTN recharge card by her aunty. She came back home and told her that she had lost the money on her way. The aunt then got angry and dragged her towards the hot stove with which she was cooking.
The little’s girl was badly burnt, she even removed her clothes and showed people around bruises in her body.
As at the time of filling the report, all efforts to speak with the victim proved abortive, as she was quickly whisked away for medical attention.
Meanwhile, the accused in her statement upon interrogation at the Byazhin Divisional Police Headquarters, denied every accusation of maltreatment of the little girl. She argued that she searched for the girl all through the night before she slept.
Ann who hails from Kogi state, has since been detained at the Byazhin police station and is awaiting prosecution.
