ENDSARS Protest: SW Reps Caucus Condemns Attack on Gov Oyetola’s Convoy

The South West, SW, Caucus of the House of Representatives on Sunday condemned what it described as the dastardly attempt on the life of the Governor of Osun State, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola by unknown hoodlums in Oshogbo, the State Capital on Saturday while addressing EndSARS protesters.

In a statement made available to news men in Abuja on Sunday by its Leader, Hon Femi Fakeye, the Caucus condemned the violent attack on the person and convoy of the Governor who voulumtarily came out to attend to the protesters rather deligatting his aides

The Caucus urged the Security Agencies in the state to immediately swing into action and fish out the hoodlums, their collaborators and bring them to book to serve as deterrent to others.

While appealing to the Governor not see the unfortunate and babaric attack as the true reflection of the People of the state, the Caucus called on parents and guardians to consell their Children and wards on the need not to be willing tools to criminal minded elements who are hell bent in distabilising the State and the Zone in general

The Caucus pointed out that it was worrisome that such a babaric physical attack could be directed on a sitting Governor who was only out to listen to the protesters and in turn to brief them the steps being taken to address their demands at the various levels of government

According to the Caucus, ” all these rubbish should stop forthwith, we are alarmed with what happened in Oshogbo, Osun State over the weekend, during which the state Governor was physically attacked, we sympathetise with the Governor, we want him to overlook the ugly incident and continue with the excellent work he is doing for the good people of the State

“We are calling on the Security Agencies in the state to fish out the miscreants behind the ugly attack on the Governor and his Convoy and bring them to book accordingly so as to serve as deterrent to others

The Caucus however appealed to the Youths in the Zone and the country in general to put an end to the street protests forthwith to allow proper attention being given to their demands materialised on time, saying that the current streets agitation would not achieve any meaningful results.

“We are appealing to our Youths to be orderly and peaceful, we don’t want crisis, no meaningful development can take place in any chaotic situation, they should alllow our.governors to give our people good governance for the benefits of all”

Recall that before the attack, Governor Oyetola had assured the protesters that all those who sustained any form of injuries during #EndSARS protest would be taken care of by government.

The Governor who first apologised for not being able to address them since the protest started in the State assured the protesters that he believes in the genuine intention of the protest…
