Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed on Tuesday declared the interest of his administration to implement pension contributory scheme in the state.
The governor disclosed when he received officials of the Premium Pension Limited who paid him an advocacy visit at the Government House, Bauchi.
Governor Mohammed said implementing the policy in the state would enable the beneficiaries access capital market loans and other interventions for self reliant.
The governor who regretted that, his administration had inherited pension system with no credible data, said the state government will partner with the Premium Pension Limited to improve the welfare of pensioners.
He said his administration is working assiduously to enhance the integrity of its pension data and block leakages in the system so as to ensure effective pension management in line with international best practice.
“I am highly delighted to receive you on behalf of the Government and people of Bauchi state to Government House on a very very important and auspicious visit which is a turning point in terms of pension management and human capital development in Bauchi state.”
“With all humility, I can say that, Bauchi is working because of what we are doing and we will remove Bauchi from poverty and bad governance.”
Governor Bala Mohammed therefore expressed confidence that mutual partnership between the two bodies will enable his administration free resources from mismanagement for the provision of required social services by addressing poverty and bad governance in the state.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Premium Pension Limited, Alhaji Ibrahim Alhassan Babayo said the visit is to seek for partnership with the state government for proper pension management in the state.
Alhaji Ibrahim Alhassan said the developmental projects currently going on in the state ginger the company to partner with the state government to block leakages in the pension scheme.
“Your Excellency, we are here in Bauchi to introduce our company to you for mutual partnership as a move to assist you to find lasting solutions to leakages in pension scheme of Bauchi state.”
The Chairman said Premium Pension Limited will provide advisory services to the state government for effective implementation of pension contributory scheme in the state. END
