Ahead of the 2023 Presidential election, campaign posters of incumbent Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello were Tuesday displayed on some major roads in Bauchi state capital.
Our correspondent observed that the posters which did not bear any party’s logo but adorned with the Governor’s pictures were seen displayed in some major areas of Bauchi metropolis.
Our correspondent reports that the posters which also were on display at all the entry points to the state capital has inscriptions which read,”Vote Yahaya Bello for President, Federal Republic of Nigeria ” and “Yahaya Bello for Generational Change”.
This Medium further observed that at the bottom of the posters is the inscription, ” courtesy of the Nigerian Youth Awareness Group “,a socio – political Non – Governmental pressure Group believed to be behind the campaign to draft the Governor into the Presidential race.
Reacting to the development in an interview with THISDAY, the state chairman, Publicity Committee of the All Progressive Congress(APC),Comrade Sabo Mohammed said “Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State is not only a founding member of our great party,APC but a highly respected chieftain of the party in the country and free to aspire to any political position in the country”.
According to him, ” He has the constitutional right to seek for any political office he so desired but I think what we are seeing now is a declaration of interest which is being carried out by his admirers and supporters who have confidence in him to deliver good governance if he becomes President”.
He however stated that the party in the state has not officially endorsed any aspirant yet for any position, adding that the party has not been contacted by anyone.
The posters were pasted at strategic locations in the state capital, including parts of Wunti Round about, Central market area,Fire Service junction, Ahmadu Bello way and Awalah round about area.
Other areas are,Gombe road,Jos road, Kano road,Maiduguri road,Railway area and Kobi street, among others. END
