PIB: Reps step down harmonization Committee report till September

The House of Representatives has stepped down the report on the harmonization committee regarding the Petroleum Industry Bill.

The decision was squel to the outcome of the closed door session earlier witnessed before the commencement of Thursday plenary.

The Speaker, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila who presided over the plenary made the announcement on the floor but could not give further reason for the house decision.

It appears that the harmonization committee report on PIB will not be looked into during the National Assembly recess because the Speaker, in his remarks for the last plenary session before the recess noted that only the House committees on Finance and Defence will be allowed to meet.

However, it was learnt that the Senate had agreed on the harmonization committee report.
