Audit Query: DG NCAC, Runsewe Says Public Officers Must Account For Stewardship

The Director General of the National Council for Arts and Culture, NCAC Otunba Olusegun Runsewe , on Thursday lauded the House of Representatives Committee,on Public Accounts over the ongoing investigations of the Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs of the Federal Government over Audit Reports on the various queries by the office of the Auditor General for the federation

Speaking when he appeared before the Committee on the queries raised against the Council by the Office of the Audit General of the Federal, the NCAC boss declared that every public officer must account for his/her stewardship for accountability and transparency

He said that the exercise would assist in instilling prudency and discipline in the administration of of the MDAs and as such public officers would give their best while in Service bearing in mind that one day, they might be call upon to render accounts of their stewardess in office

According to him, ” I which to commend the good work this Committee is doing, it is for transparency and accountability sake, nothing to hide, we are here before this honourable Committee to present our submission on the queries raised against our Council and the Committee has taken it and we have been cleared having gone through the submission”

Speaking, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon Busayo Oluwole Oke made it clear that the Committee was not after anybody or agency but was out to perform its constitutional roles.

Hon One pointed out that moreso the opinions in the Auditor’s reports were not formed by the parliament but were formed by the office of the Auditor General of the Federation where the reports were passed to the parliament for further action which necessitateud the invitations being extended to the MDAs to come say their own side of the case but which they have been refusing to show up.

He however said that the Committee would not be deterred from carrying out its responsibilities to the people who elected despite the antics of the MDAs

The Committee cleared the queries raised against the Council after going through the relevant documents presented to back its submission.
