INDABA, 2022, opened doors yesterday in the beautiful city of Durban, with fifty five countries in attendance and whopping 7.5 million rands flourishing the local economy in the run down to the three days event held at the City convention center.
Lindiwe sisulu, South Africa Minister of Tourism, described the biggest Africa Tourism exhibition as a pan African show, nothing that South Africa government believes in a United Africa and is committed to its growth and advancement through tourism.
” we remain committed to this because we believe through visiting each other in our various countries and sharing (our) stories, we get to know each other and appreciate each other more, which is the power of tourism.” She explained
The Minister reiterated that the socioeconomic and cultural future of the continent must be built through collaboration and partnership, a trade secret central to the successful emergence of South Africa as a destination.
“Collaboration is vitally central to our tourism sector success stories and over all relations as people of this continent that we love dearly ” the minister further clarified, adding that South Africa will showcase over 90 small micro medium enterprises (SMMEs) from its nine provinces, captured under its “Hidden Gems Banner” which incubates entrepreneurs for the Africa continent.
She hinted of the strains and irritations which continental Africa Tourism faces, which sometimes erect walls against effective relations, hindering successful and sustainable cultural tourism growth, and called for more robust meetings and sharing of knowledge among African nations.
” it cannt be disputed that meeting of minds and sharing of ideas and knowledge can only lead to a burgeoning tourism sector” sisulu pleaded.
