ACCI Empowers School Children With ICT Training

The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ACCI, has commenced a three week Information and Communication Technology, ICT, Summer Vocational Training.

The Director of Best Centre, ACCI, Dr. Tinuke Temitope made this known while speaking with newsmen in Abuja. Dr. Tinuke Temitope who was represented by the Administrative Officer of the Centre, Amina Gani said the three weeks training which commenced on the 7th of August, 2023 is for children within the age of four to twenty five.

She stated that the participants would be trained in the areas of Microsoft Office, Coding and Robotics, Website Design, Photography, Graphics Design, Music and Instrument and the three main indigenous languages namely Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba.

According to her, the training was to imbibe skills acquisition in children during the holidays to enable them earn income towards becoming self reliant.

The Director explained that the Centre decided to introduce the training of indigenous languages to enable the children speak their mother tongue and guard against extinction of Nigerian Indigenous languages.

Dr. Temitope reiterated the commitment of the Centre towards programmes that would compliment the efforts of Government on job creation and youths empowerment through professional training in line with international best practices.

Also speaking, the Planning and Research Officer of the Best Centre, Mr Williams Samuel described entrepreneurship skills as key to self empowerment hence the need to catch the school children young through the ICT training.

Mr Samuel therefore advised parents against allowing their children to roam about during the holidays but rather engage them on activities that would improve their lives and secure a better future for them.

He said the Centre had engaged the services of experts that would effectively impact necessary knowledge on the participants during the three weeks training.
